Energy Warding, Lesser (Shield Magic Property)
A shield with this special ability protects against one type of energy (Common, Uncommon, or Rare) and is designed with patterns depicting the function it performs. The shield harmlessly absorbs some energy damage per attack that the wearer would normally take (similar to the resist energy spell).
The amount of ER the shield grants is dependent upon the type of shield in question, with larger and heavier shields providing more protection.
Table: Energy Resistance by Shield Type Shield Type ER Amount Buckler 1 Light 4 Heavy 8 War 10 Tower 12
Special: For the price of 10,000 gp each, you may add one additional energy type to the shield's ER. IE, you can spend the extra amount to protect against both Common and Uncommon energy. If you purchase this adder twice, thus gaining all three listed energy classes, the ER changes to ER /-, providing protection against all Energy types save Primal. These additions do not increase the overall enhancement level of the shield, do not increase the costs of future enhancements, nor do they count against the total enhancements possible on the shield.
- Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 23), a languid remnant (tier 1), and an item symbolic of the enchantment.
