Least Ring of Wizardry
- Cost: 4,000 gp
- Weight: .1 lbs.
- Family: Ring of Wizardry
A Ring of Wizardry is the product of the purest of magics, the embodiment of pure knowledge. When worn, a Ring of Wizardry seems to do absolutely nothing. It does not protect the wearer, or give them dominion over others, or produce a magical shield, allow magical movement through space or the ability to vanish from sight. To the outside observer, it looks like a useless magical bauble, with no tangible effect at all.
Yet, despite this utter lack of visible effect, a Ring of Wizardry is usually the most prized possession of any serious spell caster. Even though a Ring of Wizardry does nothing at all in the physical world, its effect on the wearer is incredibly profound, and equally valuable. Rings of Wizardry come in more than a dozen variations, and each of them is massively useful, although the mightier (and much more expensive) versions require the wearer to be a great hero before they have any effects.
A Ring of Wizardry only affects a wearer if that wearer can cast spells of an Arcane nature. Where this ability to cast spells comes from does not matter. The Arcane spell slots can be a class feature, sourced from an item, feat, talent, or any other ability. If the wearer of a Ring of Wizardry has the ability to cast Arcane Spells and has Arcane Spell Slots, then the number of those spell slots, assuming the Ring can affect those levels, is doubled.
Being able to cast twice as many Arcane spells per day, even for a limited number of spell slot levels, is such a massive boon that many spell casters will pay nearly any price for this power. As a result, Rings of Wizardry, despite their apparent lack of any tangible effect at all, are highly prized indeed.
The owner of this magic item must wear it continuously for 24 hours to attune it to their aura, and until that time has passed, it provides no benefits to the wearer.
- Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 12 (10 + double CL)), Languid (tier 1) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 2,000 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
