Slaying (Melee Weapon Magic Property)
You must be level 21 or higher to equip, wield or wear an item with this property.
The longer the wielder of a Slaying weapon studies a target, the more effective their strike. As an immediate action, swift action, or as part of a move action (including during a charge action), a character wielding a Slaying weapon can command it to study a creature within 60 feet. The wielder must have line of effect and line of sight to that target. For each immediate, swift, or portion of a move action spent, the wielder gains +5d6 points of bonus damage with all attacks made against that target, to a maximum of +20d6 (if four immediate, swift, or portions of move actions are spent studying the target over the course of the encounter). This bonus damage is precision damage, of the same type as inflicted by the base weapon, and only applies to successful hits against that creature.
If used out of combat, the wielder must command the weapon to study a target that is unaware of them. For each minute it studies an unaware foe, it gains a bonus +5d6 as above (still limited to a max of +20d6). The wielder may combine out-of-combat study with in-combat study until the maximum dice are reached.
Once the Slaying weapon has reached its maximum possible bonus dice against a specific target, the wielder may command it to expend all of the accumulated dice to make its next attack an automatic critical strike. There is no need to confirm this strike, and all of the bonus dice are assumed to be maximized and added to the normal result of the critical (+120 points of damage). Once expended in this fashion, the wielder of the Slaying weapon may begin spending actions to accrue a new stack of dice, against either a new target or the same target (if it survived).
If the wielder attacks a creature other than the studied creature, commands the weapon to study a different creature, or ends their turn more than 60 feet from the studied creature, the weapon loses all bonus damage dice against that studied creature.
