Never let nature get in the way of science.
Ability Type: Su
Prerequisites: -
Benefit: When the alchemist creates a bomb, they can choose to have it deal extra damage against plant creatures but less damage against other creatures. To use a defoliant bomb, the alchemist makes a ranged touch attack against all creatures in the area of effect of the bomb, instead of just the primary target. Any targets that have the "plant" type or subtype suffer the full amount of the bomb's damage if they are hit, and half damage if they are missed.
A defoliant bomb deals only half damage against a hit target, if that target does not have the "plant" type or subtype, and no damage on a miss.
A defoliant bomb also kills all normal (non-magical) vegetation in its area of effect, including trees. Such things simply crumble to ash. Any plant-based difficult terrain or blocked terrain in the affected area becomes normal terrain.
Note: This is a 'bomb modifier' discovery, and may not be combined with any other 'bomb modifier' discoveries, until the alchemist learns the Eureka Bombs class feature at level 17.
