Lash of Iron (True Dweomer) |
---|
- Spell Level: 12
- School: Abjuration
Casting
- Casting Time: True Dweomers require a Full-Round Action to cast normally.
- You may optionally roll a Caster Check to attempt to Fast Cast this True Dweomer as a Standard Action.
- If your roll equals or exceeds a DC of 55, you Fast Cast it as a Standard Action.
- If your roll is a non-1 result between 45 and 54, you cast it as a Full-Round Action, as normal.
- If your roll is less than 45, or you roll a natural 1 on the die, the spell is cast at half damage, treated as though all targets succeeded on their saving throws, or it deals only half its effect.
- True Dweomers can be cast as rituals, requiring a 1 hour casting time. The area of effect or number of targets is multiplied by 10. The range of the spell is doubled if it is longer than Touch.
- Components: V, S, M (A bit of wrought iron, broken into strands, worth 1 gp.)
Effect
- Range: Self
- Target or Area: one target creature, plus one per 10 character levels (drop fractions; max 4 at level 30) in a 15 foot wide by 120 foot long area (3x3x24)
- Duration: Instantaneous
- Saving Throw: Reflex partial
Save DC: 10 + caster stat modifier + 1/2 caster level - Spell Resistance: Yes
Description
- You clutch a bit of broken wrought iron, the memory of stone and flame and darkness. As you chant the crisp sounds of this Great Working, you grind the strands of iron together in your grip, the magic infusing into the metal and slag, the strands lengthening and curling and becoming fraught with peril. At the culmination of the Miracle, your arm whips forward, and you lash out!
- You must choose a 3x3x24 square area, which must be adjacent to your space so that at least one side of the 3-square side shares an edge with your space. You fill this space with a slashing, crashing torrent of long iron cables, which lash and shred a number of targets you choose, up to the limit defined above, but you miraculously cause no harm to any others. Each target must be partially or wholly within the area of effect.
- Each target suffers (Strata 3 damage): 1d6+9 points of damage per character level (max 35d6+315 at character level 35) of slashing (physical, common) damage from the ripping strands, are pushed away from the caster by 1 square for every Tier of a spellcasting class they possess, and suffer Ruptured equal to the caster level of the caster. They are allowed a saving throw, as defined above, to reduce the damage by half, reduce the Push by half (round down), and to negate the ruptured condition completely.
