A landau is a large, often well-appointed, ley carriage. It can convey eight in great comfort within it's large enclosed cabin, and usually has sleeping berths for at least four. The drover sits high on the front in a tiller station like other ley carriages, exposed to the elements, but landaus usually have at least a roof for the drover and often have side-walls as well. There is room for a driver and an ssistant/guard at the tiller station and up to six footmen can ride along the outside of a landau on the footrails provided.
