Hateful Creature Pattern (+2 CR)

Subtype: add Hateful to subtypes


Hateful Creature is a pattern that can be added to any creature that is truly, exceptionally, bitter and acrimonious. Hateful creatures utterly despise their enemies, and this vicious choler drives them to insane efforts to destroy those who offend them in battle. This hatred may reflect an affliction of the mind, body, or spirit, or perhaps some parasite or virus that drives them to acrimony. Perhaps the Hateful Creature is a devotee of some emotional God of Rage, or they have drunk alchemical drafts to enflame their ire. Perhaps their local culture inculcates such furious despite, or some malady from the Hells or the Deep Dark drives the festering rancor in their hearts.

It is possible that Hateful reflects some dire credo, membership in some intolerant, angry sect, or the followers of some enflamed mad leader. If used in such a way, the presence of the Hateful pattern could indicate the work of some villain 'behind the scenes'. GM's can use this pattern in may ways indeed!

Hateful works best on creatures with minds and physical bodies, but it can work on any creature depending upon the concept. A Hateful Golem, even though mindless, might reflect the hate of its maker, for example.

This creature seems utterly consumed with the darkest, most vicious spite you've ever seen. It seems even more dangerous than others of its ilk.

General

Ambush Chance: +1 (worse at ambushes)

  • Increase all move speeds by 10 ft.

Maneuver Defense: +2 CRs greater than base creature.
Hit Points: +2 CRs greater than base creature.
Fort: +2 CRs greater than base creature.
Refl: +2 CRs greater than base creature.
Will: +2 CRs greater than base creature.
Special Defenses:
  • (Hateful Creature) Scorn For Fleas: Gains ER1\- against any energy damage originated from its declared enemy (see below). If it already has ER, use only the larger applicable amount against each type, this never adds.
  • (Hateful Creature) Contemptuous Disregard: Gains DR1\- against all physical damage from all attacks. If it already has DR, use only the larger applicable amount against each type, this never adds.

Spite Foe (Su; Hateful Creature Pattern)

Once per encounter, as a swift action, a Hateful creature may choose one creature as its Foe. This is a Supernatural ability with a range of 50 feet, which requires the target to hear the Hateful creature to take effect(line of effect but not line of sight is required).

When directed against an enemy creature, Spite Foe inflicts 1d4 points of damage as negative energy (energy, uncommon) and applies the Antagonized condition. Spite Foe allows a Will save versus a DC of 14. If the save is made the damage is halved, and the antagonized condition is reduced to Vexed.

If a creature is already suffering the effects of Antagonized or Vexed, they may not be affected by this power again unless that condition is first cleared.
