Lesser Climb
A creature with lesser climb has a +2 training bonus on all Movement checks to climb. The creature must make a climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC higher than 0, but it can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened while climbing. The creature retains its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) while climbing, and opponents get no special bonus to their attacks against it. If a creature with a lesser climb speed chooses to make an accelerated climb as a move action, it moves at double its climb speed (or at its walk speed, whichever is slower) and makes a single climb check at a -5 penalty. If it fails this check, it falls back to its starting position, wasting the move action.
Lesser climb does not allow inverted surfaces to be navigated (e.g. ceilings), without a very difficult climb check.
- Prone: If a creature with lesser climb is knocked Prone, he falls to the ground, taking normal falling damage.
- Difficult Terrain: A creature with lesser climb is subject to movement penalties caused by difficult terrain.
- Permitted Movement: A creature with lesser climb cannot charge, make 5-foot steps, run or withdraw while climbing.
- Overland Travel: Lesser climb cannot be used for travel overland outside of combat.
