Numbing Creature
Back to Monster_Patterns_and_Roles
'Numbing Skeleton' is an inherited pattern that can be added to any Skeleton, hereafter referred to as the base creature.
A Numbing Skeleton uses all of the base creature's statistics and abilities except as noted below.
CR
Same as base creature +1.
Size and Type
The creature's Size and Type do not change.
Initiative Modifier
The creature's initiative modifier increases by half the amount that its CR increases, round up.
Senses
No changes.
Armor Class
Numbing Skeletons gain +2 AC. This is granted by adding to the base creature's natural armor bonus.

Defensive Ability
A Numbing Skeleton gains the following abilities, which may be added to their Bestiary entry:
Aura: Once per round, when it makes any attack action, a Numbing Skeleton emits a fine spray of bitter frost from its wintry bones. This is a cold damage aura that effects all enemy creatures within CR/10 (round down, minimum 1) squares of the Numbing Skeleton's space. This damage aura inflicts 1d4 per CR of cold damage. Affected characters may make a CR appropriate Reflex save for half damage (this is the base creature's CR, not it's pattern-adjusted CR).
SR: Same as Base Creature
Special Defenses: The Numbing Skeleton is immune to Cold damage.
Speed
A Numbing Skeleton's base speed improves by ten feet in all movement categories it has.
Melee Attacks
A Numbing Skeleton retains all the base creature's attacks, and its weapon and armor proficiencies. These attacks retain the same primary or secondary status they had for the base creature. At CR 9 and above, the Numbing Skeleton adds 1d6 of cold damage to all its melee attacks.
