Description
- With a snap of your fingers and a heavy grunt, a tiny drop of mercury on your person is consumed by this spell.
- You create, in a square within range to which you have line of sight and line of effect, a slightly concave, circular plane of force that follows you about and carries loads for you. The disk must be created above a surface usable with your Walk speed. The disk is 3 feet in diameter and 1 inch deep at its center. It can hold weight equal to the casters Drag load, but it does so without encumbering the caster in any way. If used to transport a liquid, its capacity is 2 gallons.
- The disk floats approximately 3 feet above the ground at all times and remains level. It floats along horizontally within spell range and will accompany you at a rate of no more than your normal Walk speed each round if you will it to follow you. If not otherwise directed, it maintains a constant interval of 5 feet between itself and you. You may direct it to any eligible square within range as a move action, the disk moving at 20 feet per round, as if reluctant to leave your side. As a separate move action, you can will it to remain stationary. The disk winks out of existence when the spell duration expires, if you move beyond its range, or try to take the disk more than 3 feet away from the surface beneath it. When the disk winks out, whatever it was supporting falls to the surface beneath it.
- If you are falling, you may snap your fingers and cast this spell during the fall, hopefully positioning it where you will soon impact. Note that casting a spell while Falling requires a Caster Check against a DC of 20 plus the spell level. If you successfully cast a Floating Disk beneath your fall, you may will it to zoom upwards to catch you, which causes the spell to wink out, but also breaks your fall so that you take no falling damage. You typically land on your feet, shaken but uninjured. You may also attempt to catch others with a Floating Disk, in which case you must make a Caster Check against the falling creature's Maneuver Defense to position the disk correctly. Good Luck!
- This spell lays an arcane charge on its target(s). If the targets are something other than you or another creature (such as an object or area), the spell lays an arcane charge on you, the caster. Targets which already have an arcane charge present must choose which to keep if the new spell has the same charge type. Only one arcane charge can ever be present on a target at a time.
