Effect

Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./two lvls)
Target or Area: two target creatures, plus one per 10 character levels (drop fractions; max 5 at level 30), creatures you choose within range, who must be within 40 feet of each other
Duration: Until the end of the current encounter, the end of the next encounter, or until the start of a full night's rest, whichever is sooner
Saving Throw: Will negates
Save DC: 10 + caster stat modifier + spell level
Spell Resistance: Yes

Description

You call down the Divine Power of your Faith and Deity, and wrap creatures you choose in an aura of Holy power. Affected creatures are allowed a saving throw to defy your boon, although allies frequently fail this deliberately.


A brilliant divine radiance surrounds the subjects, the color and presentation of the aura unique to each deity. If the subject succeeds in a saving throw, the aura quickly fades, but otherwise, it is very obvious to both sight and hearing based senses. While under the effects of Holy Aura, Invisibility is negated and Stealth rolls receive a -5 penalty.
Creatures subject to Holy Aura must check for Ethical Resonance. If the targets alignment matches that of the caster on at least one axis, (ie, Good versus Evil, or Law versus Chaos)then there is no Ethical Resonance and the Aura grants the following benefit:
  • First, each warded creature gains Fast Healing each round at the beginning of their turn equal to the Caster Level of the caster.
  • Second, if any creature succeeds on a melee attack against a creature warded by a Holy Aura, the offending attacker gains the burned condition, doing Holy (energy, rare) damage.


If the Ethical Resonance check fails, IE, the creature is wholly opposed to the alignment of the caster on all axes, then the following dire effects occur:


  • First, each warded creature takes -1 to-hit and damage with all attacks, and all their effect DC's are lowered by 1, as the Holy Aura baffles their senses and saps their power.
  • Second, each warded creature suffers the Immolated condition, based upon the CR (challenge rating) of the caster, dealing holy (energy, rare) damage.


Upon casting, the caster may choose to deliberately fail the Ethical Resonance check, and inflict the negative effects upon any target. Doing so may have religious consequences, as using Holy Aura to burn innocents to a crisp if you are a Good Aligned character is generally a poor choice. The GM adjudicates all unusual circumstances, as always.
This spell lays a divine charge on its target(s). If the targets are something other than you or another creature (such as an object or area), the spell lays a divine charge on you, the caster. Targets which already have a divine charge present must choose which to keep if the new spell has the same charge type. Only one divine charge can ever be present on a target at a time.
