Sonic Bulwark (Shield Magic Property)
Sonic Bulwark (Shield Magic Property)
Shields with this property are as finely constructed as a musical instrument, every detail refined, every inch finely formed and finished. They often bear decorations associated with sound, such as a design of a lyre or bells, or a chorus. When worn, the shield constantly emits inaudible tremors, as if on the verge of sounding off, needing only a word to emit its terrible power....
As a standard action, the wielder may command the shield to create a tremor of sound made solid. This tremor completely fills a number of squares based upon the character level of the wearer, at least one of which must be adjacent to their space, and all of which must be adjacent to another square filled with the effect. Each square of the tremor is ten feet high and five feet wide, and always has rounded corners, so the corners around it may be cut at any time. If the wearer of the shield is between 1st and tenth level, one square is filled. Two squares manifest per activation at levels 11th to 20th, 3 squares at levels 21st to 30th, and four squares at levels 31 and higher.
Once created the tremors persist until the end of the next combat the wearer participates in, and no longer. The tremors do not move, and can be Sundered to destroy them, using the Maneuver Defense of the wearer of the shield, with a Durability of one per square. If the wearer activates the shield multiple times, the various manifestations can be placed adjacent to one another and they merge seamlessly. In this way, cylindrical, square, and other shapes can be built up.
The tremors do not block line of sight or line of effect, but if any creature attempts to move through them, they act as difficult terrain and inflict 1d6 points of bonus Sonic (energy, common) damage for each square moved through.
- Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 17), a languid remnant (tier 1), and an item symbolic of the enchantment.
