Talk:Injury, Death and Dying

- players should always get a chance to monologue as they die.
- gives them a chance to say goodbye, curse a villain, pass on a quest, make a final request, etc.
- takes some of the sting out of a death
- GM's may wish to give players an alpha strike-level 'last hurrah' attack as they die, if the battle feels dramatic enough for it to add to the story.
- should probably impose a penalty to the chance of being successfully resurrected -- only use this if you are really thinking you'll die (for good).
- may want to add a mechanic around raise dead and resurrection and comparable abilities, like a group skill check.
- give bonuses to anyone who can give a good reason the character needs to be restored to life.
- ultimately it is a higher power, or the soul of the character themselves, who decides whether someone comes back or not.
- of a raise/rez spell fails, the creature is permanently slain, and can never be restored to life (even with a wish).
- hardcore mode: could add (an optional) rule that limits the number of times a character can die, ever, before the magic just doesn't work on them any more.
- some attacks (villain level only, please) could even reduce this number
- blessings from gods might increase this number
- in special cases, a player might be able to give away one of their potential rez'es to another character who needs it.
- this would create a more brutal game, where resurrection magic isn't some panacea.
