Depending on the campaign setting, characters may instead begin play with either an Outfit, Sturdy Cold-Weather Clothes, or Outfit, Sturdy Hot-Weather Clothes. These outfits are designed to provide better comfort when environmental effects are constant (they provide some DR and ER against either environmental cold, or environmental hot, respectively), but inflict environmental damage if worn in the wrong climates. If you want to wear a parka in a tropical jungle where a cool evening is still 85° F, you'd better be tough. | Depending on the campaign setting, characters may instead begin play with either an Outfit, Sturdy Cold-Weather Clothes, or Outfit, Sturdy Hot-Weather Clothes. Players are encouraged to consider purchasing additional outfits, over and above the single outfit they begin with. Outfits for wealthier and noble lifestyles are pretty-much mandatory if you want to mix with the more distinguished crowds. Some character classes benefit from having a change of clothes available (to improve a disguise, for example), while others may just wish to have something else to wear after that 3-day hike through the sewers. If you insist on keeping to a single outfit, there are also clothes washing services available (even magical ones). But seriously, could you stand downwind until you get around to doing that? Yikes. | Players are encouraged to consider purchasing additional outfits, over and above the single outfit they begin with. When shopping for equipment, many adventurers may wish to avoid poring over a giant shopping list of bizarre equipment featuring 15 varieties of wax, just to get on the road. Many adventurers just want a basic kit of stuff that will ensure they have the gear necessary for camping in the wilderness or a dark dungeon. To that end, players are encouraged to take a look at the Adventurer's Kit, which costs 12 gold pieces and weighs 44 pounds. A number of possible substitutions are also available to make the Adventurer's Kit lighter, but at added expense. See the Adventurer's Kit entry for details. | When shopping for equipment, many adventurers may wish to avoid poring over a giant shopping list of bizarre equipment featuring 15 varieties of wax, just to get on the road. Slightly more specialized than the 'everybody wants one' Adventurer's Kit is the Casting Kit, which is of use to all the Arcane casters out there who can't be bothered with all the details and frippery on their Path to ULTIMATE MIGHT. A Casting Kit has everything your arcane caster could ever need to get their spell's on. | |||

This page is a listing of all of the equipment, goods, and services available in Epic Path. Most goods can also be crafted by someone with the appropriate Profession skill.
This equipment page also includes a variety of lesser magic items called 'lay magic items'. These items are inexpensive, and presumed to be widely available to nearly anyone who can afford them. However, they are not necessarily appropriate for all campaign settings, especially low fantasy or magic-scarce campaigns. GMs should decide whether to allow Lay Magic items as available for purchase during their campaign, and especially during character creation. Lay magic items can also be crafted by someone with the appropriate profession skill, but also require Creator (Feat).
Individual equipment listings in the large table below can be clicked on to view the details of that item, or they can be reviewed in a catalog format on the following sub-pages:
Clothing
All adventurers begin play with a free Outfit, Sturdy Clothes. A full set of clothing weighs 6 lbs, but only if you're carrying it around. Worn clothes weigh nothing (assuming you're only wearing a single outfit's worth of clothing). Note that clothing isn't really optional, even if you're wearing armor. Going commando under that heavy plate mail might sound like a practical way to reduce your encumbrance, but your skin won't thank you for it. That stuff chafes like you wouldn't believe! And don't even get me started on chain mail.
Yikes.
Starting Equipment
Some classes also have certain equipment they should pick up to fully enjoy the benefits of their class:
- Alchemists should pick up an Alchemy Crafting Kit.
- Bards may wish to pick up one or more Musical Instruments
- Clerics and Paladins should purchase a Holy Symbol for their deity, and may want to pick up a Healer's Kit.
- Prowlers and Rogues might want to consider picking up a set of Thieves' Tools (Weapon).
- Rangers should pick up at least one Hunter's Trap.
- Warlords should pick up a Healer's Kit, a Banner Harness, and a Small Banner.
Note that weapons, armor and shields are not listed here but instead have their own pages:
