Deathwatch Monocle +1
- Cost: 900 gp
- Weight: 1 lbs.
- Family: Deathwatch Monocle
A Deathwatch Monocle is a subtle device that fits over one eye, with a lens over that eye. When being used, the lens turns completely opaque, with a single baleful spark in the depths which peers forth in watchful awareness.
Deathwatch Monocles can be innocently made, of conventional gold and glass, or can have nearly any appearance desired by the maker, ranging from the practical to the fanciful, from a highly decorative butterfly or bat wings, insect-themes, nigh-mask-like designs with skullcaps to massive hoops of beaten iron cocked down over one eye with bubbled and flawed black diamond lenses. No matter their appearance, they always turn the lens black when used, with a single dire spark peering forth without favor or mercy. At the upper end, Deathwatch Monocles can appear as floating crystals in a gyre of darkness attached to the wearer's head, humming vortices of destruction, shimmering portals filled with eyes, and many others besides.
- Deathwatch: As a move action, the wearer may learn the exact current hit points (including temp, bonus, or any other hit points) of a creature they can perceive. This knowledge lasts until the end of the encounter, or until the creature gains or loses hit points from any source other than by your own actions.
The owner of this magic item must wear it continuously for 24 hours to attune it to their aura, and until that time has passed, it provides no benefits to the wearer.
- Creation: Creator (Feat), Bailiwick Check (DC 14 (10 + double CL)), Languid (tier 1) remnant, An item symbolic of the enchantment, 450 gp (minus cost of symbolic item).
