Freshet Rod
Freshet Rod
- Cost: 500 gp
- Weight: 3 lbs.
A Freshet Rod is usually made of green wood, and is fairly dense and heavy due to this fact. They are usually decorated with carvings or inlays, depicting playful waves, waterspouts, and dancing, lively brooks. More expensive Rods of this sort may have blue and green inlaid woods, jade, aquamarines, and even diamonds and sapphires. One end is usually carved into the form of a curved spout, which drips the occasional drop of water as long as the Rod has any charges remaining.
For each charge expended, a Freshet Rod produces a number of gallons of water equal to the Rods Creator level times the wielders character level, times the highest experience tier of the wielder.
Thus, a first level Rod with a level 1 wielder who is tier 1 will produce (1x1x1) one gallon of water per charge. A seventeenth level Rod with an 18th level wielder who is tier 4 will produce 17 x 18 x 4 = 1224 gallons of water per charge (about 150 cubic feet). A 35th level rod with a 35th level wielder who is 7th tier produces a maximum of 8,575 gallons of water per charge expended. Clever owners can doubtless think of many ways to attempt to use this device, for good and ill, and GM's are encouraged to adjudicate fairly but firmly.
This water spills forth in an abundant but gentle flow, and cannot be used to inflict harm. This is an effect exactly analogous to a Create Water (Cleric Spell), but much more abundant.
One gallon of water provides enough water to maintain good health for one sized Medium creature if drunk in normal climates. Two gallons will sustain health in hot climates. Large creatures require twice as much water in a day, Huge creatures require four gallons, etc. One gallon provides for basic washing and ablutions for a size Medium creature, doubled per size category larger. Five gallons fills a large pail, and provides thorough washing. Fifty gallons provides a deep tub or a barrel.
- Environmental Effects can also be affected by water, specifically, dousing a creature on fire.
- This water disappears after 1 day if not consumed.
- Note: Conjuration spells can't create substances or objects within a creature. Water weighs about 8 pounds per gallon. One cubic foot of water contains roughly 8 gallons and weighs about 60 pounds.
You can purchase this rod at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the spell as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
