This rod is crafted to have the appearance of three thick chains that are woven together, though the chains are clearly not real, since they do not flex within their links. One chain is brass, one is silver, and one is gold. The top and bottom of the rod are capped with simple iron caps, but carved onto the ends is a scale in perfect balance.

These rods are often carried by city watchmen, especially those guarding the gates that provide entrance to a city. Many times, the city will charge an entrance fee that includes the cost of recharging the rod (in addition to whatever other usurious fees they normally charge). You can always leave your weapons at the gate, of course.

Wielders of this rod can utter a command word as a standard action to cast a Peacebond spell, using up one charge from the rod. If the wielder chooses, they may expend 5 charges from the rod and cast the effect as an immediate action.

When activated, the wielder selects a target within 30 feet and locks a weapon in place on its owner's body, or within the weapon's sheath or holster. This can only be done on a weapon that is not already being wielded by the target. When and if target wishes to pry the weapon loose from the peacebond, the cost to draw the weapon is increased to a move action (but not part of a move action), even if the target has the Quick Draw (Feat).

The target must also make a Will saving throw, versus a DC based on the creator level of the rod. If the target fails its save, it also provokes an attack of opportunity when it does draw the weapon.

This effect persists until the weapon is drawn.

You can purchase this rod at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the spell as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
