This rod looks like a riding crop. Slender, woven leather, flexible, with a flat, snapping tip. Activating this rod requires 10 minutes of concentration, at the end of which you smack it into your palm with a resounding crack! The mount of your choice appears within 30 feet of your space, in an open space sufficient for its size. If there is no such space, the rod fails, expending the charge to no effect.

Wielders of this rod can cast a Phantom Steed spell as a 10-minute ritual, using up one charge from the rod.

When the ritual required by this rod is completed, the rod conjures a magical Mount (the exact appearance and coloration can be customized as you wish). You may choose any one creature whose Mounted CR is less than or equal to the creator level of the rod. You may thus summon a Mount that has movement abilities and powers that you will find useful in a wide variety of situations. This Mount may not unlock any special abilities, or have its CR improved above the base level by any means, as it does not really exist, and dissipates back into the magic from which it was created at the end of the wielder's next full rest.

This Mount can be ridden only by you or by the one person for whom you specifically created the mount. A Phantom Steed otherwise serves as a Mount of the type you summoned, with all base stats.

There is no saving throw against this effect, nor does spell resistance apply.

You can purchase this rod at a higher creator level than the minimum required to cast the spell. Doing so increases the potency of the spell as described above, but also increases the cost, as follows:
